In Unit 18, students at the beginner level of English learn words for food and meals. The students practice new words with familiar activities: Wordsplash, Word Web, Memory, Picture Match and Pictionary. Students also study how adverbs can show frequency or sequence of actions. They review three ways to add -ing to action verbs. English learners then read about meals and preparing a sandwich or fruit salad. With a partner, students then write about preparing a dish. Each session has language drills in the student workbook.
In Session 1, students learn the names of three daily meals, dishes and utensils, and common foods. They practice with Wordsplash and make flashcards.
